Taken from by Mark Mc Parland from Doan. The mountain in the background is Carn Mountain.
Route 1:
Park at the Slievenaman Road car park and follow the trial sticking to the higher path as far as you can. Start the incline to the mourne wall & cross at the sty. If it is a clear day you will see Doan directly ahead of you. Follow the path keeping right or walk directly ahead. Lough Shannagh is to your right.

Route 2:
Park at the Moyad Road Equestrian Centre and follow Banns Road all the way until you reach a Lough Shannagh.
